On Friday, October 5, 2018, at 7:30 pm, Prince Dance Theatre presents its newest work My Empty Body is Full of Stars at the East Hawai‘i Cultural Center in Hilo.
This performance of My Empty Body is Full of Stars is the first showing of this new work and is one part of a project that encompasses not only the creation of a full-length evening show but also includes an outreach and education component. In the next phase of the project, PDT will go into local North Hawai‘i schools to teach scientific concepts about physics and astronomy to children—fusing dance and science excitingly and understandably to ignite the minds of the youth.
The performers in the show include Elizabeth Brawner, Noelani Anderson, Debra McGee, Erin Kawakami, Aria Wiley, and Angel Prince.
My Empty Body is Full of Stars is created in collaboration with astronomers, engineers, photographers, musicians, and painters—the new piece will be a dynamic contemporary dance performance about the universe. The performance melds live painting by Morris
Original music for this performance has been composed by Kanoa Withington
My Empty Body is Full of Stars is also performed in conjunction with the opening reception of the 30th Annual Trash Show. Tickets are $15 at the door. $12 for seniors and children.
